La Vie Tropézienne: How to Do Saint-Tropez Right
So, you’ve heard of Saint-Tropez. You’ve seen the pictures—yachts, bronzed bodies, and the kind of effortless glamour that makes you wonder if everyone’s in a perfume ad. You’ve got a vague idea of Brigitte Bardot and the old-school icons who once made this little fishing village their playground. Now you’re thinking it’s time to see what all the fuss is about—and you want to do it right.
This is the guide for the woman who wants to really feel the vibe. Not just skim the surface, but sink into the rhythm of the place. It answers all the questions you might feel silly asking: Where should you actually go? What do you wear? Where’s worth staying? What’s the plan once you’re there?
Let’s be honest—hopefully you’ve been saving, babe. Saint-Tropez isn’t exactly budget-friendly. The scene is a mix: flashy spenders, flirty singles, and generations-old families who treat it like their summer backyard. The thing is, Saint-Tropez is what you make of it. You can dip into the flashy side, then slip out to enjoy the quieter, more local charm. It’s not all showy nonsense—it can be relaxing, romantic, wild, or low-key. A girls’ trip, a sexy getaway, or just a solo vibe-reset. You get to decide.
One more thing: the longer you stay, the more you’ll notice the same faces popping up. So look good, be kind, and play it cool—you never know whose yacht you’ll end up on tomorrow :)

How to get there
By Car
If you’re staying overnight, your hotel or villa should have parking sorted. Just double-check in advance. Driving in for the day? You’re in luck—Parking du Nouveau Port usually has plenty of space and puts you right near the action.
By Boat
Some hotels—like Cheval Blanc—and many of the top beach clubs have their own docks. If you’re arriving by sea, you’ll find plenty of places to pull in with style.
Unfortunately there is not direct train connection.
Where to stay
If you’re making the trip all the way to Saint-Tropez, I’d definitely suggest staying in Saint-Tropez itself. It’s the best way to soak up the vibe—wandering the little streets, hopping between cafés and boutiques, and just letting the charm of the town unfold around you.
Check out our selection of our favorite boutique hotels in St-Tropez here. Did we mention we have perks? Think room upgrades, complimentary breakfast and drinks at the bar, $100 hotel credit and early check-in and late check-out (STA).
FUN FACT
St -Tropez was the stunning backdrop of Brigitte Bardot’s 1957 movie And God Created Woman, which catapulted both Bardot and the port village to international stardom.
Beach Clubs
The daytime scene in Saint-Tropez honestly gives the nightlife a run for its money. Dare I say... it might even be better. The beach clubs are a huge part of the social rhythm here—not to mention they’re absolutely stunning and a whole lot of fun. There’s something about daytime energy that makes people chattier, friendlier, and just more open.
Beach clubs in Saint-Tropez are more than just sun loungers—they’re an experience. Think: plush daybeds, seaside lunches, rosé flowing, and a vibe that toes the line between chic and carefree. You can dine right at your bed or at a table in the restaurant. Either way, it’s a whole thing, and it’s done to perfection here.
Important: you must reserve in advance—both the beds and the restaurant tables. And if you’re coming in peak season (July and August), book as early as you can. Most restaurants operate in shifts, meaning you’ll typically choose between a 13h30 or 15h30 reservation. I recommend the earlier slot—people tend to linger (as they should), and the restaurants rarely rush you. That’s part of the charm, after all.
“Here, the customer is not the king… because he is a friend.” That’s their motto—and they truly live by it. This iconic spot on Pampelonne Beach in Ramatuelle is an absolute must. With its ultra-low-slung loungers and just-right background music, Club 55 has the most effortlessly relaxed yet undeniably chic vibe of all the beach clubs. This is where everyone goes—the young, the old, couples, families, flirty singles. It’s been that way since the 1950s. Watching people arrive by boat and stroll the long boardwalk up to lunch? A full-blown spectator sport.
Don’t skip the gift shop—it's a treasure trove with something for everyone: clothing at all price points, stylish home goods, toys for the little ones, and gifts you’ll actually want to bring back. The restaurant, decked out in calming whites and blues, feels like therapy with rosé. The staff is friendly, and sometimes a live band will casually pop over to your table to play.
This isn’t typically a champagne-spraying, table-dancing kind of scene—but hey, it has been known to happen. Love it or not, you’ll want to say you’ve been. It’s practically a rite of passage.
A stylish presence on Plage de Pampelonne, LouLou brings a touch of Parisian cool to the beach—with a whole lot of personality. Designed with the playful flair of Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, it’s bold, colorful, and totally unforgettable. Think sunny yellows, deep ocean blues, and a vibe that’s equal parts chic and carefree. Inspired by Yves Saint Laurent’s muse Loulou de la Falaise, this spot feels effortlessly glamorous—refined, a little flirty, and full of free-spirited charm. LouLou Pampelonne isn’t just a beach club—it’s a full-on mood.
More than just a beach club, it’s a full-on beach house experience—complete with a pool, a chic restaurant, a top-tier kids’ area, a wellness space, and direct beach access. The whole concept is designed so you can settle in for the entire day without ever feeling like you’re missing out on anything luxurious. Hidden in a pine forest, it’s effortless, elevated, and made for lingering.
La Réserve is exactly what you imagine when you think of Saint-Tropez. Designed by Philippe Starck, it has a laid-back bohemian feel with colorful, eclectic touches that somehow all just work. L'Opéra Saint-Tropez
The food isn’t the main draw, and the party can get pretty over-the-top—but that’s kind of the point. Loud music, champagne showers, and dancing on tables—it’s wild, it’s iconic, and you’ll definitely remember it (or maybe not).
Gaïo
A restaurant-club hybrid that feels like L’Opéra—but done better. Sleek design, a grown-up crowd, and a smoother, more elevated vibe once the lights go down.
Les Caves du Roy
Legendary, exclusive, and always a scene. It’s intimate, it’s wild, and the door is famously tough—but if you get in, it’s worth it.
At this laid-back spot on the village port, Michelin-starred chef Eric Frechon brings a fresh twist to Mediterranean flavors—while the sea, and the view of the yachts, adds its own magic. You can dig your toes into the sand as you dine, chat about the boats, and soak up the scene. Come summer evenings, a DJ sets the mood (because this is Saint-Tropez, after all).
